I actually passed through this area last year and it was depressing as hell, it was like a Conan Doyle novel about Sherlock Holmes about how smoggy London used to be*





*apparently Sherlock Holmes is still used as a teaching text in Russia and many Russians were convinced London was like what you see in Linfen in the above video.
