A rap about life in Beijing

Urhu

Dear TCG,

Im considering learning how to play the Erhu (Chinese Violin). Do you know any way I could learn some simple songs?

Kevin B

Dear Kevin

Do you want a job as an editorial here, the pay is shit however, but you're more Sinophile than I am...

Anyway an Erhu is:

Again it's one of those things, you need to practice lots probably and therefore as a cheapish intruduction you might want to buy yourself a DVD. Maybe even have a play with one before you part with serious money to buy one. I'm sure Yesasia.com has some here and there. But it is like with everybody learning to play is a very personal thing. My mates all picked up guitar via being self taught. I had to have somebody teach me to play guitar. While I self taught to ride a bike fast by following faster riders and pushing myself (and putting the bike in a hedge now and again) While others need serious tuition to be able to learn to do this.

What's this song?

Dear TCG

Please can you help identifty this song for me, I don't speak Chinese but I often hear my parents singing it. I don't want to ask them. In the chorus it goes in Cantonese one sky one sky, drunk (something), it's by a famous Chinese star I think.

Anon

Dear Anon

That does not give me much to work with, in fact are you John Lee? If you are you never gave me back my CD collection or my Megadrive. I've been waiting for you, John. We meet again, at last. The circle is now complete. When I left you, I was but the learner; now I* am the master.

Anyway.

Erm it could be anything. There are many famous stars.

However thinking off my head some Chinese Karaoke favorites it has to be Jacky Cheung part of the 1980s-1990s songs which made you feel awkward and embarrassed lest people question your sexuality. Though TCG no longer gives a damn about what people think anymore.

"每天愛你多一些 "

This is a sadder song, never a dry eye in the house. Same Jacky

Material girl cover.

Dear TCG

I remember an old Song from TVB tapes I heard quite often as a child I can't remember who the writer or who did the vocals however it was a cover of Material girl or sounded like it. Ive checked wikipedia and asked on lots of forums but nobody seems to have heard of it

Vanessa Y

Dear Vanessa

Today is your lucky day. I know the song because erm I know the song. The song is by Sally Yeh/Yip. It is called 200 degrees, it is uncredited on wiki probably because they are so incredibly embarrassed just to watch the video, back in 1985 this was probably cool but today is rather embarrassing.

葉蒨文 200度

And you can watch the video here:

Try watch the video and not smirk at the two guys.

You may remember Sally from such films as the killer

Sally plays the poor girl who sings at the start and is involved in a massive shootout and is blinded by Chow Yun Fat
