Comment Spam
Comment spam has been a big problem Im noticing. There was so much of it that I just deleted all recent comments posted anonymously. If you posted a real comment as anon and it got deleted, I apologize.
Most spam comments start out looking legitimate saying something like "great post" or "wonderful blog" etc, then at the end it says something like "visit my webpage -> 'webpage'" and links to a site for penis enlargement pills or something. It's annoying, and filtering out spam by hand or doing moderation is much too time consuming. So an ID is now required to comment (Google, Open ID etc). In addition, CAPTCHA is now enabled. This should prevent flooding.
And FYI, I have no plan to delete this blog, but no real plan to revive it either (unless someone wants to take over).

Not Again
Guess what happened yet again? It involves vital organs, China and Apple products.
Ding! Thats right, some sap sold his kidney for 220,000 yuan (US$35,000) (a much better deal than the last guy) so he could buy an iPad. And now he suffers from renal deficiency. Good job Wang!
This really should bring some attention the issue of the underground organ trade in the PRC.

Stop Wal-Mart from Destroying Chinatown
| Great movie btw |
Chinatowns are a Mecca of prospering small business, and Wal-Mart destroys small business. Not only that, but Wal-Mart has been linked to increased poverty, exploitation of workers and other nasty things.

Prepare to have your faith in humanity tested yet again. Remember that rather silly kid who sold his kidney for an Ipad? Here
Here we go again...... girl offers to sell her virginity for an Iphone4, Here. I detect however a viral advertising method though seeing as Steve Jobs (in my opinion) is evil.

Totally worth it
A boy in Anhui has reportedly sold his kidney to buy...
Food? No.
A house for his family? Nope.

Zheng, a high school freshmen reportedly sold his kidney to a Fujian businessmen for 20,000元 (~US$3000) so he could buy an iPad 2. Yes, an iPad.
What ponders me more is how he did this without his mother knowing until it was too late. Well, at least if he wants a supplemental kidney, there's an app for that ™

When NO means NO!

It seems a lot of my contemporaries are getting married all of a sudden. TCG being the only male Representative of his family in the UK gets wedding invites. Some how they got a hold of my address. TCG hates Chinese wedding invites because they are greedy beyond belief!
In a western wedding you normally invite your mates and have a wedding list 99% of people will buy a cheapo toaster because it is cheap, quid pro quo as the married couple you throw them a massive party with food and booze to compensate for the cheapo toaster. But really this is to celebrate with the happy couple and to watch them take steps into a new life. Well thats what it is supposed to be anyway. Though marriage is going out of date anyway (here). But modern Chinese weddings are something else entirely.
Chinese weddings are different. Chinese weddings are an advanced form of avarice which utilises face and shame to extort people out of money. TCG apparently has no face in his immediate family. The devil may cry since I don't particularly care at all.
Chinese weddings the bride wears red purposely for the intents of extortion. In that a Chinese wedding is different, you invite ALL your friends AND enemies. On the invite it used to be implied to bring some money to 'give the happy family a good start in life' today the feckers specifically ask for money and put minimum amounts. Inflation is pretty rampant (anybody seen the price of gas in the UK these days? Petrol and natural gas that is I felt violated as I put in petrol into the car @ £1.23 a litre today to you Americans that's $2 a litre! or $8.50 a gallon!).
My cousin has made this extortion into an art form quite simply he gets married and divorced every 18 months and guessing by the rubbish receptions and the number of people who turn up he makes £15,000-£20,000 in profit each time.
Anyway I digress. Today wedding invites specifically state the amount of money to bring. Hence the way to maximise your profits is to hold a shitty wedding reception and to invite everybody even tenuously related to you. Common tricks to maximise profits are to hold them in shitty locations, this was lampooned in City Japes...back in 1987. Where cookie and So get married they hold it in a terrible location so people can't come. For instance in the UK most Chinese people live in Manchester/Liverpool/Birmingham/London areas. These areas contain China towns which people gravitate around. However invitations I have seen recently have been in Scotland, or even Cornwall which are by no means remote but take ages to get to.
The other way to maximise profits is to have a terrible reception. I'm actually against uber weddings the kind that cost £10000+ since it is only a one day event but then again if you expect me to give you £500. I don't expect a bowl of rice and a single big bottle of beer to share between fifty people.
The nasty thing is EVEN if you do not attend you are supposed to by custom pay the money, even if it is your mortal enemy. TCG's dad will always pay no matter what wedding because he cares about face.
TCG has struck a blow for austerity and modern attitudes though quite recently! TCG received an invite from a mortal enemy of the family and I sealed it up and put it into a post box again with rejected on the front.
Here is the nice bit. The last party I did not attend but by sheer coincidence managed to happen to be in the same building for everybody tried to do the you have no face you are an outcast! This kind of BS against me.
TCG curtly replied back..... why should I pay for a party I'm not going to, in fact why should I slave away at a job I'm not exactly in love with only to give you a big chunk of my pay cheque for nothing in return? The elders tried the BS it's only £500. As if it is a tiny amount of money. (My extended family in HK think I am loaded to the gills but they only look at my income not the expenditure. I was so tempted to say if its such a small amount of money then why don't you give me £500?). Rather than rant and rave about how £500 is not a small amount of money. I simply decided to go elsewhere to eat. But I think I felt that I generally struck a chord with the younger folks. Since the younger folks don't make much money themselves.
Meh, they had to use me as the hatchet man to plant such seeds of doubt into ridiculous traditions. But I suppose I've always had a minor talent to be able to capture the feeling of a crowd. This is bad because it is a charactoristic shared by nut jobs you know like Hitler! Or Stalin
But seriously.... the excuse, because it has always been this way no longer cuts it any more.
People in China (if they can read this) or HK will probably gasp OMG what a punk! Somebody should show him some manners and respect......but seriously guys do you really like paying shit wads of money for this kind of thing?
Yes? Then keep on paying then.
No? Then say no like I do.

All your base are belong to us prt2
Again with the China thing....
Why are these companies so suicidal? In that if you cut jobs in the UK and move them overseas, then they merely end up destroying their consumer base. TCG for one will not be buying anything related to the Olympics.... ok granted I NEVER buy anything related to the Olympics but still.

It'll polish out
Meh.....
Just gives more fuel to the fire Chinese drivers are shit. TCG isn't a shit driver though as I have 5 years no claims and 0 points on my licence (I've never had points on my licence). But this is balanced out Yin yang style by TCG's dad who does not understand what mirrors are, what indicators happen to be. Back in the 1990s when we lived together the number of times he'd nearly run me over on the drive way, or the number of times he hit my motorbikes. Thankfully TCG's dad does not drive anymore...... though worryingly he is currently on a fishing trip somewhere near Shanghai.... TCG awaits SAS troops to come kick down his door..... and thus may well be absent from this blog for a while.

We're buggred now

Oh dear it appears as if we are buggered.
Wushu bear in Japan.
Bears may well seek some revenge on Chinese people as Chinese people can be terrifically cruel to bears regarding captive bile milking of bears. Here is a excerpt (still happens). Its so cruel even my dad thinks it's cruel.
"The cruelty of sucking gallbladder juice from live bears in China"
A few months ago while on a business trip, I had a chance to visit Angel Bridge at the foot of Long Day Mountain in China. At that time, we also went to explore a large bear farm which is surrounded by forest and beautiful scenery --- it is truly an isolated paradise. All of sudden I saw about fifteen large cages with bears in them. The farm owner told me this is a gallbladder farm, the purpose of which is to continuously extract fluid from the bears' gallbladders. Because of the high demand, it is an extremely profitable business.
When we arrived at the farm, the bears and the caretaker seemed to be getting along very well, all was calm. Suddenly four huge men showed up and the bears suddenly started screaming fearfully and rocking their cages hard as if they saw a ghost. The caretaker told me every morning at eight o'clock liquid is drawn from their gallbladders. Around seven-forty-five, the bears become agitated and have no appetite to eat and they start screaming and crying desperately for help.
In white uniforms, and without any emotion on their faces, the four men went into one of the cages. They quickly used a steel wire to snatch the bear by the neck, at which point the bear's eyes bulged out and it started gnashing its teeth and crying. They are so scared to death and this trauma causes them to defecate at the same time.
In the bear's stomach, there is a hole with a steel tube inserted directly into the gallbladder. Outside the area there is a plastic tube connected to the steel tube for drawing the liquid. The area is covered tightly with surgical tape. When the time comes, the tape and cover are removed and a syringe is used to withdraw the green liquid from the gallbladder. Three big men went in and pressed bear's 4 legs with force and inserted a syringe into plastic tube. When the dark green gallbladder juice was sucked from bear's body, the poor bear opened her mouth so big, her two eyes were bulging and her entire body was trembling so hard throughout the whole procedure.
This kind of severe torturing went on for about two hours until all the bears had been subjected to the same torture. The crying and screaming was so hard and loud and echoed the entire mountain and valley. It frightened me so much, my heart ached and my head started spinning.
After this unthinkable torture, the bears used their paws to hold their stomachs. They curled up and shivered and I could see tears in their bright little eyes...
Around 10:30, someone cried out that there had been an accident in cage number 5. We followed the owner to rush into the bear farm and were shocked at what we saw. A brown bear had managed to pull out his own intestines and was holding them up in the air, roaring and screaming, as if he were madly "protesting" the cruelty and insanity of the humans. There was blood all over the cage. It was so difficult to watch such a suicidal scene. Never in my life had I been in such shock or so devastated. At that time, someone rang the security alarm, immediately people rushed into the bear farm and waving the sharp ax and big steel hook. The owner shouted :"Hurry to 'rescue' the bear paws!" The man in the cage was reluctant to continue to go forward. But the owner stamped his feet and kept yelling: "You have to cut them off while the bear is alive. That is the only way they are saleable!" Right after that, I saw the sharp ax swung and the number 5 bear's paws were immediately chopped off with blood gushing out.....
Perhaps the killing smell filled in the cage number 5. The other bears then suddenly started to cry and scream sadly and desperately again and had the tendency to be violent. It shook the whole island. The farm owner had a butcher background. When the bears appeared ready to act violently and workers were panicking and running away, the owner stopped them and ordered them to put "steel jackets" on five of the most aggressive bears and give them a shot of morphine. As soon as the bears saw the "steel jackets", they immediately became quiet. It seemed the bears all got the painful lessons from the "steel jackets", otherwise they would not calm down so quickly.
This whole unbelievable incident affected me so deeply that their sad and innocent faces haunted me day and night and will continue to haunt me until the day I die. I felt a strong need to expose this incident to the world. Please widely distribute this true story and hope that everyone who reads this will do something to stop this kind of insanity from Chinese bear farms and to help these desperate poor creatures. Definitely, the Chinese Animals protection law needs to be improved, urgently.

not the US election

However the election is a good time to bury bad news.
The bigger issue is Bernanke. He or his masters announced $600bn more of QE, quantitive easing. Which is a euphamism for printing money. You know Zimbabwe style. If you haven't noticed Zimbabwe printed money and they are totally fucked. Oh and everything in Zimbabwe is now stamped property of China....
So how has this got anything to do with China? Well China holds $853bn US or there abouts.... or claims to hold 800bnish of US dollars. So while their dollars don't decrease the purchasing power of their dollars is going to decrease a fair bit. The first time this happened I was in Zhuhai and there were lots of people complaining in to those phone in radio shows. It was mostly about how China gifted the US a shed load of Aircraft carriers because of the devaluation. The Ford class carriers are supposed to cost $15bn dollars btw. Japan and Russia hold a shed load of US$ too which pisses them off no end too, when in Siberia Russians would curiously ask for US$ then Euro first then grudgingly accept Roubles.
Tbh it can only end in tears printing more and more money unless the US pulls a fast one with New American dollars whereby only Americans in the continental US can exchange them leaving China holding the bag.
Which is dangerous because many such paths lead to war..... although a great amount of firepower exists in the US currently does it mean anything anymore? For instance the IDF vs the anti tank missile a comparatively cheapo missile taking out a very expensive tank.

Ass hat put in prison
But the fact that his dad played the racism card, then said he was stitched up then shifted blame onto the dead taxi driver accepting no responsibility at all, then lying about the car rolling away which it didn't. I mean watch the video you can clearly hear the car revv its balls off (note HK taxis have gear sticks on the steering column) UK cars are mostly manual/stick shift btw (TCG misses manual gear boxes because the piece of crap automatic I am driving now changes gears slowly and inappropriately).
Now if only HK prisons were more like this. (HK prisons are merely overcrowded underfunded and lack any rehabilitation processes)

The Bruce Lee effect

But
TCG hates Bruce Lee.
Namely as Bruce Lee managed to get TCG beaten up A LOT in school. Note that the areas TCG grew up are not exactly Representative of the UK. Where Children carry Uzis and we have places called Little Beirut or Gang banger alley or rape city.
He also got my parents beaten up lots of times and a lot of my peers beaten up a lot too.
Quite simply people would watch a Bruce Lee or Bruce Li, Lea, Lie, Law,Lo etc etc etc film and think all Chinese people could fight like that. Therefore they would start fights against you. But because they thought you were hard and you could kill them in an instant they would fight you in very large gangs. At the end of Enter the Dragon, the bad guys conveniently queue up one by one to be dispatched by Bruce. In real life they rush in and beat you to a pulp. TCG is on first name terms with the doctor who would reset my nose every few weeks while I was a teenager.
I did however learn to fight eventually and even though I was beaten to a bloody pulp after standing up to them they soon stopped and grew out of it. Back in the 1970s Just before Bruce died something would happen to my dad (who did work in restaurants before going onto driving a van for a short spell) and his friends. Though not so much in Cornwall as my dad and his mate used to brew lots of cheap beer.
Anyway big beefy Rugby types think Jonah Lomu sized blokes
Would come into restaurants eat shit loads. They would then walk out when a waiter attempted to stop them they would say some shit like.
"If you can knock us out we'll pay you."
They would then start a massive fight trashing the place for the hell of it. Bruce Lee copied this real life story for the film Coliseum. Until three things happened. The Chinese community really did start fighting back. I have a story whereby I'll tell you in person, but it is about a man with a hammer and three big beefy blokes who ended up eating through straws for the rest of their lives. And also when a Wushu master came from Guangzhou and there came a rep that Chinese people fight back.... which incidentally placed the Bruce Lee effect on ME and my Chinese peers.
However all the people who stayed in HK and China during this time still look up to him (in some ways) because of the stardom. But they never experienced the wave of violence he admittedly inadvertently caused many overseas Chinese. Though of course this might just have been strong picking on weak, but when people growl at you like Bruce did on the silver screen there is a connection there too!
Though curiously James Kim the Korean guy I met from New York said Koreans suffered much in the same way when he was younger. Though it was more that they seemed to be weak and the strong tend to pick on the weak again. Though I can only name one Korean Martial arts star Hwang Jang Lee who always got killed by Jackie Chan in almost all of his appearances.
