Virgin Boy Eggs

Note: If you are new here, read this then this, first.

It must be some kind of crazy Easter tradition. In Dongyang, China, every spring vendors cook up batches of hard boiled eggs boiled in piss. Yes, piss. Specifically, little boys piss. Like many other strange Chinese dishes, it supposedly has a number of health benefits, such as increased energy, improved circulation, and less joint pain. Apparently this "dish" has been prepared annually for hundreds of years. Little boys piss is collected from local primary schools and put into pots of eggs to simmer and boil. Despite being cooked in urine, they sell for twice the price of regular hard boiled eggs. Does that mean they taste like piss? No idea. But if they do, it looks like Bear Grylls has found a new favorite snack.

Totally worth it

I have lost faith in humanity. Again.
A boy in Anhui has reportedly sold his kidney to buy...

Food? No.
A house for his family? Nope.

One of these;

Story Here and Here

Zheng, a high school freshmen reportedly sold his kidney to a Fujian businessmen for 20,000元 (~US$3000) so he could buy an iPad 2. Yes, an iPad.

What ponders me more is how he did this without his mother knowing until it was too late. Well, at least if he wants a supplemental kidney, there's an app for that ™

China: Enforcing the Laws of Physics

Have you ever wished you could go back in time? Well if your in China its not going to happen. The Chinese government has recently put a ban on time travel. At least on screen. State censors have released new guidelines discouraging shows and movies who's plot revolves around time travel. The law was made to protect the integrity of China's history. I guess Dr Who won't be coming to China anytime soon.

How to make an extra $50 a week in China

In China? Want some extra cash? Single? Just unzip those trousers!

Financial incentive for donating sperm in Guangdong has been growing. Those who are qualified can receive 300元 (US$45) per donation and donate up to 10 times. Giving you an extra US$457 over 10 weeks.

The only place in China were porn is legal

My basement

I don't really understand why there would be a sperm shortage in China. The one child policy limits couples to one offspring plus there are more men than women in China.

Virginity in China

Virginity in women is highly valued in China (as well as various other cultures around the world). This has led many women to have to risk being looked down upon or even loosing a marriage partner if they want to have sex freely when they want. Until now. Japanese companies are actually trying to sell artificial hymens. The hymen is a thin membrane inside the vagina that is broken by penetration and has always been the most noticeable indicator of a woman's virginity (even though it may be broken by other means such as strenuous exercise). These fake hymens are made of Carboxymethyl cellulose and are designed to stick into place with surgical glue. Although the makers claim no side effects, gynecologists say they could lead to infections. Still, millions of women pay almost US$10 for these over-the-counter patches. Even so, the makers recommend faking being in some pain in order to be more convincing.

Those who want to take it a step further can have hymen restoration surgery, in which the natural hymen is reconstructed. I have no idea how they do this but some believe its worth the $1000 price tag.

WTF Friday: Chinese Happy Tree Friends

A grisly cartoon that marks the upcoming Year of the Rabbit by portraying a bunny revolt against brutal tiger overlords has proven an online hit, with its thinly veiled stab at China's communist rulers. It was unavailable on websites in China Thursday, apparently deleted by skittish government censors.

The Devil Came Down to China

Weird shit happens in this crazy world. Fish die and birds fall out of the sky in Arkansas, and people in China start growing horns.

Source + Story
A 101 year old woman in Eastern China has been growing a horn on her forehead since 2009 and is growing an identical one on the other side of her forehead. She says she does not want them removed because of the publicity they have attracted.

Another elderly man in Guangxi has also been found with the condition, but the horn is in the back of his head.

Source + Story
These growths are likely to be Cutaneous horns made not out of bone but of keratin, the material of fingernails. This condition is rare but is believed to be caused by radiation and skin damage.

Or it could be another sign of the apocalypse as birds fall from the sky and sinners turn into monsters.

You heard it here first, the end of days is upon us.

Jiggling Titties!

01 November 2010

It takes balls to guard a Princess, oh wait...

Nestled in a hidden part of Beijing, there is a museum dedicated to those who suffered a punishment worse than death. It is the Beijing Eunuch museum. Eunuchs were male servants and protectors of female members of the royal family. At a young age, these servants were castrated. This was done to ensure that they would not sleep with members or concubines of the royal family (though I don’t see why they couldn’t just use female servants). This practice of castration dates back into ancient China. It peaked during the Ming Dynasty before finally ending with the fall of the Qing in 1911. The museum is located at the tomb of Tian Yi, a eunuch from the Ming Dynasty, it is one of the most well preserved eunuch tombs in China.

The museum features many artifacts excavated from the tomb as well as a realistic diorama of the castration process. The victim would be held down by several men while another did the procedure. This was all done with no anesthesia, and it would take months to heal before one could even walk again. However most of the time they just died of blood loss, infection or the extreme pain. The boys “package” was then wrapped up and placed in a case which was then placed on a roof beam in the boy’s house. When he died, his goods were then buried with him. One of the most famous Eunuch’s was Zheng He, the famous Chinese explorer.

Another section of the museum is dedicated to Sun Yaoting, the last surviving Eunuch from the Qing Dynasty who died in 1996.

So next time you’re looking for an interesting place to go in Beijing, check out the Eunuch museum! Unfortunately, I was unable to find the exact address. If your into this sort of thing, you might want to check out the Icelandic Phallological Museum as well.

GET OFF YOUR CHAIR'S NOW!

From Gizmodo:

Well, stories don't get much worse than this. A 14-year-old boy in China was killed when his chair exploded, sending chunks of metal into his rectum. The bleeding this caused killed him.
The alleged explosion came from the gas cylinder that was in the base of the chair, the part that allowed the user to adjust the seat up and down. The canister gets compressed when you sit on it, but can it actually create enough energy to make the seat cushion explode like that and kill a man? I doubt it, but this is what people are reporting.
In other news, I am working from a beanbag from now on. Sweet merciful crap.
Apparently the air piston in some Chinese teenager's chair exploded and sent him to a brutal, bloody death. The piston shot out through the chair straight up his rectum. He ended up bleeding to death.

If you brought your computer chair for less then $50, Id buy a new one. Especially if it was made in China.

Practically ancient

For some crazy ass cultural reason in China in fact most of Asia once you are 30 you are officially old this maybe some comfort to the mad engineer. There is an incredible pressure to get married have children and settle down. The same thing happens in Korea, Japan etc. Thus a lot of men and women get desperate and marry the first person who comes along. All because of social pressure and fear of being looked down upon.

Hey TCG why aren't you married yet?

Why should I get married? Note TCG is very cynical about marriage and has friends and acquaintances who are not Chinese who have merely lived together for decades in fact they are the strongest relationships I know. Heh ironically a girl said this to me about 13 years ago about it only being a piece of paper. Though I suppose she was sparing my feelings, but hey as a teenager I'd have shagged anything and everything.......

Anyway China is so freaking crazy about getting married we have all sorts of freaky things.

We have Ghost marriages which still does happen today in modern China.

We also have women and men marrying themselves now.... as a certain Taiwanese woman has just done.

To me this is a terrifically shitty deal firstly because you don't have anybody to share your life with secondly because marriage signifies adult hood, and adult hood opens you to freaking extortion as described here in Chinese society...... though oddly the western effect has happened on almost all my Chinese peers and contemporaries in that they simply don't have any children at all or just one.... the thing is Chinese families 1-2 generations ago were BIG. Though outsiders may consider families even bigger since as a mark of respect you call everybody i.e. your parents friends and family Uncle or Auntie.

Hey Asia is a very strange place

For example

A guy who marries a video game character

A Korean guy (not THE Korean) Marries a pillow

Or that guy from Zhuhai who married himself. He's called Liu Ye or something.

Maybe this is appropriate.

Unless of course you take Cohburn's view that the object of life is not marriage and or love since not everybody gets it.

Fake pilots

A great Chinese tradition continues..... ok so this happens in the western nations (Lies on your CV) . We've had fake eggs, fake soy sauce copied phones etc and the list goes on... but then again when travelling in China I always tend to use Korean airlines (partially because the air hostesses tend to give you their phone numbers when you ask for them and they will actually go out dancing with you) or the train. But a great western tradition of lying on you CV has come to China which is not a surprise because of the intense competition for jobs there.... it kind of sucks when it is a pilot or something though. On the other hand we shouldn't be so smug as we have fake pilots in Europe too! Or Ryan Air where they want one pilot but again this is a publicity stunt as per usual As O'Leary always offers outrageous suggestions for saving money on his flights. Like standing room only flights and pay toilets on board.

BEIJING (AFP) - China is investigating its commercial pilots' qualifications amid revelations more than 200 of them lied on their resumes.

The probe comes after 42 people died on August 24 when a Brazilian-made jet flown by Henan Airlines crashed at a small airport in northeastern China's Heilongjiang province.

Fifty-four passengers and crew survived the crash, in which the plane missed the runway, sparking speculation that pilot error was to blame.

The investigation into qualifications was launched by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), the country's aviation regulator, the central government's news website said.

Between 2008 and 2009, the resumes of more than 200 Chinese commercial pilots were found to have been falsified, the report said, with some of them embellishing their flying histories.

At least half of the pilots worked for Shenzhen Airlines, which owns Henan Airlines.

"Some pilots changed their jobs many times and they constantly distorted their resumes," the report said.

"Some of them were former military pilots and became civil pilots, after being discovered a lot of them were grounded and had to go through re-examinations and re-assessment."

Investigators looking into the Henan Airlines crash were focusing on the qualifications of the pilot, the report added.

Previous media reports have said the pilot survived the crash, but was badly injured.

The government would also check the qualifications of other industry workers such as flight trainers, airline investigators, repair crews and air traffic controllers, Monday's report said.

It gave no figures on the number of people involved. China had 11,000 commercial air pilots in 2006, with hundreds added annually as the domestic aviation industry grows rapidly, according to previous media reports.

"We must draw a lesson from this painful air accident and figure out how to control the quick development (of the industry) and use quality demands to stabilise and slow development," Li Jiaxiang, CAAC head, was quoted by the government report as saying.

Authorities have already ordered safety checks of the country's fast-growing civil aviation fleet of 1,300 planes in the wake of the disaster, China's first major air disaster in nearly six years.

Some online chat rooms, the main outlet for relatively free public expression for millions in China, expressed outrage over the resume revelations.

"Why are they allowing Shenzhen to fly? Why are they allowed to do business if they have over 100 fake pilots?" said a posting on Sina.com.

However, the lack of a major disaster for six years despite head-spinning growth indicates China has done a "brilliant job on safety," said Sydney-based aviation analyst Derek Sadubin.

"They have had rapid growth over the past decade and have been trouble-free, basically. They have a safety record that is highly regarded," said Sadubin, of the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation.

He added that Chinese carriers have continually upgraded their fleet, giving them one of the newest collections of planes in the world.

Yeet hey 熱氣

Hello

Just thought I'd ask, What exactly is YEET HAY in English and How come it is only Chinese people who get it? Don't White people get it also or do they just not realize when they are ?

And what can you do if you do feel Yeet Hay

Ricky Wu

Dear Ricky

Uh oh, I was wondering when this would come up. Yeet Hey (熱氣) is a highly contentious issue which Chinese parents will tell their children constantly about. Strangely it only affects Chinese people. Caucasians, Mexicans, black people and everybody in between no such thing. Apparently there is Yin and Yang in food meaning anything which is hot is bad for you, i.e. anything baked fried, toasted, in fact anything slightly tasty or spicy. Koreans of both varieties north and South appear to be immune to it though for some strange reason.

A KFC Bucket of Chicken = Yeet hey and bad for you even if you opt for the non spicy variations

Did I say Spicy? Strangely enough Koreans AFAIK don't suffer from this and everything they eat is like eating lava.

My trek to Seoul last year after riding around Guri wondering where the centre of Seoul was I stopped exhausted and found a stand selling Tteokbokki. Which looked ok, one bite and it was like an a ball of fire in my gob. Seeing as everybody was eating it fine and not wanting to look like a pussy I ate another piece which was hotter than the first piece. I slowly put it down and had a sip of the soup, which was even hotter and I sort of lost it to the heat.

Korean Tteokbokki, Yeet Hey like nothing else, otherwords known as fire on a plate

At which the old Korean woman behind the stand crapped her pants laughing at me...(then again you can tell I am not Korean due to the way I had a massive beard. I have NEVER seen a Korean person with a beard ever).

Firey Korean burgers

Ok so I go get a hamburger a Bulgogi (beef) burger from the ubiquitous family mart in Seoul and one bite and again I am eating molten lava as the inside is filled with spicy green paste (maybe Wasabi).... Slightly annoyed now and still hungry as the Tteokbokki wasn't finished, nor was the burger. I go out yet again for something safe, some 700krw cup noodles (not as bad as the 300krw noodles which shorten your life significantly) and again I am eating lava. I go back to my hotel room and throw up.

Korean Biological weapons in case the PLA ever attacks

When Park took me out to dinner we again ate molten lava. This happened throughout my Korean experience, Kimichi, Hanjeongsiketc. I found I could only eat Bimibap. Though this was more to do with the fact of walking into restuarants seeing the menu was completely written in Korean and realising I only knew bulgogi and Bimibap.

While Kim, Kim, Kim, Kim and Park in the hostel would continuously eat fiery spicy things yet exhibit no ill effects. Unlike myself, must be a different Korean evolutionary path that they can eat fire.

Young the girlie I became acquainted with in Seoul and I really do mean acquaintance (as she is now apparently a famous actress in Korea now). We'd go out regularly to Hongdae and she would eat her weight in fried foods and spicy foods which would send me thermonuclear just looking at it. And yet she suffered not ill effects at all and kept her ghostly pale skin.....Oddly she never got fat either, while my arrival in Korea was 7stn I left Korea considerably fatter at 7.5stone from the illnesses I got in Siberia. I think it must have been the cookies you can buy in Family Mart everywhere as the spiciness upset my stomach badly and I would throw up daily.

I bet this sauce would sell well in S Korea.

However this has often led to a great feeling of conspiracy within the Chinese youth in that coincidentally everything which is Yeet Hey always happens to be tasty. While everything which is non tasty is non Yeet Hey. I lived through years of not being able to eat good stuff, Pizza? Pies? Bacon sandwiches, even toast, pop tarts, chocolate, crisps, even frigging cornflakes ALL forbidden.... damnit my youth was just eating boring things, there sure was a hell of a lot of rice. Though curiously I drink loads of milk too most Sinotypes can't drink milk.

I discovered later on it IS (sometimes) used as a controlling mechanism by Chinese parents to control what their children eat as with the last post about Feng Shui the advice is completely inconsistent. Anything they don't like the look of is instantly labelled Yeet hay... which makes children think what the fuck? I'm getting old and my dad still pesters me about this.

But anyway where was I before I got completely sidetracked in my little anecdote.

Yeet Hey is used in Chinese medicine as a state of being too hot. As an antithesis you can also be too cold, wet or dry too. yeet Hey is bought on by eating lots of hot foods, spices and or lack of sleep can all imbalance the body and affect the Qi in the body. Symptoms of uber Yeet Hey are sore throats, break outs of zits big juicy ones which lurk under the skin. Ulcers, nose bleeds and when you take a whizz golden showers or it smells bad (hold on does piss ever smell good?) It varies from person to person. Some people are much more vulnerable than others. While others are completely invulnerable to it as per the Koreans as described above.

So what's the cure doc? Chinese mythology and medicine is dominated by the idea of balance so the cure is to re balance the imbalance. When you are too hot you eat or drink something cold. Common cures as many children of Chinese migrants will attest to are cool drinks:
  • leurng chahs" (literally meaning "cool teas") such as Chrysanthemum tea,
  • yah-sei mei" (24-flavor tea)
  • gum mo cha" (influenza tea).
  • green bean soup,
  • sour plum soup
  • beer ~ yes BEER which is why caucasian people don't suffer from Yeet Hey at all!
  • A good night's sleep also goes a long way in helping someone who is yeet hay.
24 flavor tea is this black paste type stuff which tastes utterly foul, kind of like your 8th beer it tastes incredibly bitter but is supposed to make you better.

24 flavor tea (which tastes as good as it looks) = good and Leung

In a nut shell the basic theory is that you should eat enough hot and cold things to balance out the yin and yang elements of your diet else your health will suffer. The problem is there are severe inconsistencies in this. Lychee's for instance are considered to be Yeet Hey, when they are a watery fruit (I hate the damned things though). While other watery fruit like melons, grapes oranges ya pears etc are considered to be cooling (Leung). Which is terribly confusing especially as people give conflicting advice.

Another inconsistency is that curiously how come you can't have too much Yang yet at the same time can have too much Yin? Or the other way round. My dad when he is around will regularly point out things are too Yeet Hey, but at the same time doesn't tend to point out too much cold in my diet aside from beer.

However I think the best way to define what this is though is simply this:

To eat and drink things in moderation, as excess of anything is bad....

Koreans excepted as they sure do like they spicy food oh and Soju. The Kims and Park drank that stuff like water....

Though I'm sure Korean folks have their own local things too, as I remember being fed full boned ginger chicken by Young one day. Also that Kimichi has um issues.

Still everything causes cancer these days so what's new?

Asian Eyes

Its a question many always wondered but thought it was too racist to ask. What makes asian eyes look the way they do? The cause is a small skin fold in the corner of the eye called an epicanthic fold. It produces sort of an arch over the inner corner of the eye. Take a look at these comparison photos.

The true evolutionary purpose of the fold is not known. Some scientists believe it may be a neutral trait that simply arose in certain populations with no benefit or handicap. Others attribute it to the climate conditions of populations with the folds. It is believed that people with the folds have their eyes better protected from UV rays, a trait that would be useful in environments with bright landscapes or strong winds, like say ones you may find in Mongolia?

The degree of the fold can also vary. Those of mixed race or those further or closer to the center of the sinosphere can have more mild or extreme folds. For example below, the picture on the top shows a girl from Central Asia, where the fold is barely noticeable. The one on the bottom shows a girl from Korea, where the folds are extreme, causing a “fish eye” appearance.

The fold also may occur in some non-asian ethnic groups, such as those in Oceania, Central Asia, Native Americans, Inuit, certain tribes in Africa, and certain Scandinavians such as the Saami.

Another question is wether or not the folds restrict vision, while in fact it does not. It just causes them to view alignment differently, outlined in this article.

There is also a cancer spreading in China and East Asia. As the Korean pointed out some time ago, many people are getting plastic surgery. One of the surgeries that is quite popular is the East Asian blepharoplasty, where the exterior around the eye is reshaped to give a double eyelid look. This does not remove the fold, but still makes the eye look less… asian. The removal of the fold is called an Epicanthoplasty and is still uncommon. Below shows the before and after pics of an Epicanthoplasty.

Such surgery in not recommended even by plastic surgeons, as it could risk damaging the tear duct, plus many feel the result looks unnatural.

There are also ‘eyelid pastes’ that are sold that allow someone to temporarily hide their fold without surgery.

Of course if you really want people to notice, one could buy those anime eye contacts that make you look like a possessed zombie and scare the shit out of people.

One of those weird days

(originally written on Tuesday 13/07/2010)

Oh man it's 11.15pm and I've just spent the last 16 hours working. I can't see straight until I saw this post, TCG's post has been getting weirder and weirder for a while. I read your questions but then tap a few sentences and put them aside for a few days until I get some more time. I promise to answer some of your questions when the busy period wears off significantly. Of course I'm not as discriminating as our Korean chum. I post most things on the blog because I can. He obviously doesn't.

But this one stood out a mile off, just to demonstrate the weirdness of my post:

Dear TCG

I really love your blog man [snip] I'm having trouble with my Chinese girlfriend. She's not acting like I was told she would when she arrived[Snip]

TCG's spider sense detects trouble....wait a sec as I''d been told? What the fuck do you think she is a fucking machine? Erm let me re-phrase that, as you'll probably take it the wrong way. What do you think she is a bloody machine? This girl friend if she is a real girl friend is a human you don't own her indenture ended when Abe Lincoln's side won a certain war.

Arrived? this sounds even dodger

I love Xiao alot [sic] and she loves me alot[sic] too, I'm quite happy with her but it's getting youknow boring? [snip]

Ok love is all fine and dancy, but happy with her? Sounds rather objectified, TCG is happy with his motorbike (though it does use a lot of fuel)

How can I get my girlfriend from to take it in the ass, I just don't know to get her to do it I asked her and she told me I was a freak. [snip]

Oh dear....
......
......
......
......
......
......
......
......
......
......
......
......
......
......
......
......
......
......
Erm James? Do I look like a dating agony aunt?/ Uncle And seriously do you think I am an appropriate person to ask to get your girl friend to participate in your desires? No seriously does this thought process really go through your head?
"Ah yes I want to fuck my gf in the ass lets ask a random stranger who happens to be the same (questionable) race as my gf. A strange dude sat 1000 miles away in a rainy city ought to have the answers."
Seriously, well since you asked you must have seriously thought this then. Unfortunately it got weirder still

I've seen it in Jap porn all the time the girls seem to love it.[snip]

Ok this went from weird and nuts to downright creepy

Aside from the term Jap being somewhat offensive, are you serious? No really you're not just my mate fucking with me are you? Are you Stewie? The guy I met on the train from Beijing? No really in my tired state what the fuck? Do you seriously think porn is real? Have you considered the possibility that porn is not real and they are highly paid actors?

I was told Beijing girls love it [Snip]

Oh dear, so geographical location and place of birth defines a person's sexual preferences does it? Ok granted Essex girls are easy but...... no too weird

James C

Even though TCG is not an agony aunt, such things are inappropriate to ask perhaps you should talk to your girlfriend about it.... I mean come on you think TCG has some magic bullet which will resolve your problem?
